JerseyNZ Annual General Meeting 2024

WHEN:        26 September 2024, 1:00pm
WHERE:      Waikato Innovation Park, Ruakura Rd, Hamilton

Jersey NZ invites all members to attend the Annual General Meeting on Thursday 26 September at 1.00 pm in the Conference Room in the Skypoint building at Waikato Innovation Park, Ruakura Rd, Hamilton. Waikato Innovation Park has easy access to & from the Waikato Expressway.  Onsite café Weave Eatery will be available for any member wanting to purchase lunch prior to the meeting. 

The 2024 Annual General Meeting will be a hybrid meeting. That means that you can either join us in person, or online.  While we do hope that many members (especially local) will attend the meeting, the ability to also join via Zoom will enfranchise all members.  Afternoon tea will be provided.

The Annual Report will be issued electronically on 11 September 2024.

Members will be required to contact the office by Thursday 19 September to confirm numbers if they will be attending either in person or online.  Meeting links will be provided to members who register to attend online prior to the meeting.

Associate Director Position

The JerseyNZ Board are pleased to offer governance development opportunities to interested members in the form of an Associate Director position.

  • Two six-month positions are available running back-to-back effective from the Annual General Meeting 2024
  • Associate Directors will be required to sign a non-disclosure document
  • Associate Directors will be expected to participate in a JerseyNZ committee of their choosing with the proviso that the convenor agrees (if not already doing so)
  • Associated Directors are expected to participate fully in the meetings but will have no voting rights
  • Associate Directors will be required to attend either the JerseyNZ Annual Conference or the AGM
  • Meeting attendance expenses will be reimbursed by JerseyNZ
  • There will be no honorarium payable
  • Successful applicants will be selected by the Board 

Letters of application outlining your interest in the position along with a basic CV may be sent to pgoodin@jersey.org.nz by 31 August 2024.  If you have any questions, we encourage you to reach out to a JerseyNZ Director.

2025 Annual Conference

In breaking news, the JerseyNZ Annual Conference will be held in the South Auckland region during the week of 31 March 2025.  Watch this space for the exact dates & venue and exciting announcements about the Conference programme and speakers!

Jersey Future 2025 Team

JerseyNZ is once again on the lookout for diverse high genetic merit bull calves, aiming for a team of up to ten young bulls represented by 8-10 different sires for 2025.

World Wide Sires Photo Competition

Our 2024 Competition was another success and results are being rolled out each day by class currently on our Facebook page. Certificates and vouchers will be sent out to Clubs or members directly in the near future. Thank you to all members who entered.

Jersey Genome

Members who submitted DNA samples for our 2024 team have all been contacted informing them whether their animals have been successful or not. We are expecting sire recommendations from CRV very soon and these will be sent to the 2023 team, along with a mating agreement for the new team. We appreciate your patience this year with a change in process and dealing with a lot of DNA samples through the JerseyNZ office.
 
Nominations
If you feel you have a 2024 calf that you would like to offer to the JerseyGenome™ programme, please let us know the birth ID at the office. We will add this to our list of nominations and contact you later in the year for a DNA sample.  

TOP & Classification 2024 Season

Applications are now open for the 2024 TOP & Classification season and close on 23 August 2024.

Semex On Farm Challenge 2025

Keep an eye out for the 2025 Semex National Jersey On Farm Challenge, with entry forms out soon. This year, the South Island Championship cow will be awarded to the highest pointed cow entered in the Semex National Jersey On Farm Challenge.

North & South Island Championships 2024/25

The North Island Jersey Championship will be held at the NZ Dairy Event taking place at Feilding from 20-22 January 2025. The South Island Jersey Championship will be awarded to the top placed South Island cows in the 2024 Semex On Farm Challenge.

Marcus Trotter Award

Entries for both Junior showing awards close on 1st October 2024 and members will be sent an activity card upon entry.

Registrations

The close of Herd Book is rapidly approaching and Alayna needs your registration information by 20 August to be able to process your registrations in time – simply call the office or email ajudge@jersey.org.nz

After 31 August, all 2023 born animals will be charged at the over 1yr rate. 

Unpaid Registrations Policy

Members are reminded that any members who have not paid registration invoices within three months of the invoice being sent will be contacted regarding payment.  If the registrations remain unpaid one month later the animals affected will be de-registered.

National All Breeds Youth Camp

Save the Date!  The 2025 World Wide Sires National All Dairy Breeds Youth Camp will be held in Southland on January 4th-7th, 2025. We will share more information with members as it comes to hand.

Electronic notifications are a great way to keep abreast of all our communications to you.  Where we have your e-mail address, and you have NOT previously advised us that you don’t wish to receive mail electronically, we will use this.
